Weight loss journey, week 4

This week was a little hard to get to the gym and actually work out. Trying to watch my eating habits is proving to be very difficult. I believe because of this I may have gained, or loss no weight what-so-ever. I hope that I can get back on track here and do what I need in order to better my life and health.

Miles Walked/Run: 6.84+ Miles

Desired Weight Loss: 84 lbs.

Total Weight Loss: 16 lbs.

Losing weight is getting increasingly difficult. Trying to watch my calories and the amount of exercise I am getting. This weekend I got to go to the Goat Cook-off which I walked around a lot there just looking at things with my wife.

Weight loss journey, week 3

Well this week there was a lot of miles for me. I didn’t calculate the amount of calories burned for doing waits, so I would give it a slight increase. According to Snap Fitness my fitness score is 7/40… which is poor. But total wait loss is 12 lbs. I guess that’s not too bad. I hope to get myself up to the 20-40′s in my fitness score. It will take time.

Miles Walked/Run: 13.45

Calories Burned: 1,741

Weight: 288 lbs.

Waist: 50″

BMR: 2592.84 Calories

Desired Weight Loss: 88 lbs.

Total Weight Loss: 12 lbs.

Weight loss journey, week 2

This week has not been as productive, however I did join a gym and I am starting to work out each day that I can possibly work out. The calories burned here are based on what the machine says, but the actual weights is hard to determine the actual calories burned which should be more.

Miles Walked/Run: 4.75

Calories Burned: 1134

Weight: 291 lbs.

Waist: 50″

BMI: 28%

BMR:  2630.22 Calories

Desired Weight Loss: 91 lbs.

Total Weight Loss: 9 lbs.

Slowly but surely…

Weight loss journey, week 1

This was a little tough to motivate myself to actually get out there and exercise. I exercised every other day by walking, the last day of the week for me to exercise I ran as much as I could.

Miles Walked/Run: 7.5

Calories Burned: 1581

Weight: 294 lbs.

Waist: 50″

BMI: 28%

BMR:  2630.22 Calories

Desired Weight Loss: 94 lbs.

Total Weight Loss: 6 lbs.

I feel good about losing the 6 pounds. I hope that next week I have similar results if not better.

Starting my weight loss journey

After the death of my step-father in June, I have been thinking long and hard about my life and my health. My step-father had high cholesterol among other things. My father and mother both have high blood pressure and are overweight with many complications. I don’t want the same fate for me. Finally after struggling with myself on starting to lose weight, I have started to exercise and try to eat right.

In this effort I am starting out with these statistics:

Height: 5’10″

Weight: 300 lbs.

Waist: 50″

BMI: 28%

BMR: 2667.6 Calories

Desired Weight Loss: 100 lbs.

My plan is to lose 100 lbs before July 28th, 2012. This should be safe by losing approximately two pounds each week. I will be posting every week updates on my status.

Myrtle’s Country Kitchen

Myrtle’s Country Kitchen is a quite little place to eat here in New Caney, opened on May 1st, 2010. Went to go eat and found some interesting thoughts pop up into my head. First thing is, there has been three restaurants where this one is at currently, all failed at their attempt for success. I blame this on the location, not the food.

The servers/waitresses were not well prepared and stood staring off into the distance. The place looked like it hasn’t changed any from the previous restaurant that was here. I ordered the chick fried steak because this was the one thing I knew best, with corn and mashed potatoes, sounds good right? WRONG! This meal cost me about $9.00 to order and this is what I got. Chicken fried steak, about the size of your fist(Yes, I know I need portion control and this should be good for me right?) and was as tough as a rubber tire. I couldn’t cut this thing with a knife to save my life! The mashed potatoes were the instant kind that tasted like they added too much water and it slopped onto the plate like a prison meal. I have to say though, out of it all the corn was good. Tasted smoke, which was nice.

I cannot remember what my wife had ordered, but she wasn’t very satisfied by the service or the food either. I have to say that I do not think this place will last long either. If they improved more on their food then I would eat there again, but this was a horrible experience. We ended up spending the same amount of money(actually more) that we would have spent at a good restaurant like Zio’s Italian Kitchen. I warn you of Myrtles Country Kitchen of Rubber Tires and Instant Potatoes.

The Cheesecake Factory

The Cheesecake Factory in The Woodlands, Texas was exquisite! As soon as you walk up you know that it is going to be good. Once inside, you are greeted with elegance to impress a king. The ambiance of this place blew my mind. Simply beautiful. My wife and I sit down for lunch and look at the menu laid down in front of us. This place is not cheap nor too expensive but it is well worth the price, averaging price around $10 – $12 a person. As we looked through the menu we see a very wide selection of foods that makes it difficult to choose which ones to try. I finally settled on something I knew, Chili, more specifically White Chicken Chili.

“A Generous Bowl of Chicken, White Beans, Roasted Green Chiles, Onions and Garlic, Spices and a Touch of Cream. Garnished with Steamed White Rice and Fresh Salsa.”

- The Cheesecake Factory Menu.

I have to say that this bowl was generous, but I could have settled for more it was so good. The first bite was an explosion of taste that made me try to think of what chilies I have eaten thus far that were this good. I can only say that homemade chili can compare to this. On a side-note, their bread that they serve before the meal was very tasty. As far as the rest of the lunch goes I was very pleased with the bill and the service that I received. Thank you The Cheesecake Factory for a wonderful first time visit, I am sure to come back again someday.

El Taco Rico

El Taco Rico is a small Mexican restaurant off of FM 1314 on the west side of Porter, Texas. At first glance you see a white building with red lighting that illuminates the edges of the roof. While you drive into the parking lot, you get a bumpy ride trying to make it to the front door. As you walk into the restaurant you might be greeted by an employee that does not quite dress as if they want to impress the customer but rather in their normal looking everyday clothing.

They seat you at a table that seems relatively clean, but by the look of the place you kind of wonder. If you have their sweet tea then you will be delighted that it actually tastes good. Their chips are just normal chips that you would get at any restaurant. Their salsa comes in two bowls one being blue one being red, mild and hot respectively. Their service is not as punctual as it could be but mainly because they are probably short handed.

It does not take long to get your food. Their food is average. Their quesadillas are pretty good while their chicken enchiladas could use some improvement and their beans and rice are tasty. As for the price, the price is good. Average about $6-8 per plate. Two people can eat for approximately $25.

The Make Over

Since working on This Spiritual Life I have learned a lot about WordPress. I learned everything from installing WordPress, to posting on it, to building custom themes from scratch! If you take a look at the website right now along with This Spiritual Life, you will see the first two WordPress themes that I have created from scratch. I have to say that I am rather impressed by my learning ability. In just two weeks I managed to learn a lot about WordPress and was able to make two themes based off that knowledge. I admit I still have much to learn!

This is my first post on my newly built WordPress website. I hope that in the future that I can provide insightful blogs about how to build websites to how to fix computers. Most of you know me so you know how I am with anything electronic. I could literally talk you to death with the amount of information I know. So, as my first blog post, I would like to have anyone that I can take a look at the website, put in a comment here on this post of what you think about it and any feedback that you can come up with. Also please be patient while I put all my information back online and add all the plugins along with fix a few things here and there.
